I have no idea about authenticity of this forwarded article, but like all fruits, Pomegranate is also considered good for health.

Two things are full of benefits for the human being, Lukewarm water & Pomegranate.

Pomegranate is a seasonal fruit in Pakistan so I tried an experiment with dried pomegranate seeds. I prepared a decoction boiling the fistful of dried seeds in half litre of water for 10 minutes, squeezed the seeds, strained the decoction and advised those patients suffering from painful angina to use a glass of lukewarm decoction on an empty stomach in the morning. Amazing result was observed, the decoction of dried pomegranate seeds worked like a magic, the feelings of tightness and heaviness of chest and the pain had gone.

It encouraged me to try more experiments on all types of cardiac patients so I tried other experiments on patients who were suffering from painful angina, coronary arterial blockage, cardiac ischemia (insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle) etc, waiting for a bypass surgery. The same lukewarm decoction was used on an empty stomach in the morning. The patients experienced quick relief in all symptoms including painful condition.

In another case of coronary arterial blockage the patient started using half glass of fresh pomegranate juice everyday for one year, although all symptoms were completely relieved within a week but he continued taking it for a whole year, it completely reversed the plaque build-up and unblocked his arteries to normal, the angiography report confirmed the evidence.

Thus decoction of dried pomegranate seeds, fresh pomegranate juice or eating a whole pomegranate on empty stomach in the morning proved to be a miracle cure for cardiac patients. But the lukewarm dried seeds decoction proved to be more effective compared to eating a whole pomegranate or fresh pomegranate juice.

Use of pomegranate in any way has demonstrated even more dramatic effects as blood thinner, pain killing properties for cardiac patients, lowers LDL (low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol) and raises the HDL (high-density lipoprotein or good cholesterol). There are more than 50 different types of heart diseases, the most common being coronary artery disease (CAD), which is the number one killer of both women and men in some countries, and there has been no medicinal cure for this disease.

Many cardiac patients have reversed their heart diseases on my advice using one glass of lukewarm decoction of pomegranate dried seeds, half glass of fresh pomegranate juice or eating a whole pomegranate on empty stomach in the morning. It was the very first real breakthrough in the history of cardiology to successfully treat the cardiac diseases by a fruit.

The more super foods to obtain even faster results for cardiac patients which are most promising curative and protective agents like fresh raisins, quince, guava, prunes (dried plums), natural vinegar, mixture of grape fruit juice and honey in the morning (empty stomach), basil leaves, chicory leaves, powder of oregano leaves and rock salt in equal quantity (in case the patient is not hypertensive) and sesame oil as cooking oil for cardiac patients.

It is regretted to say that treating the heart patients and bypass surgery has become far more profitable business around the world which has failed to help avert life threatening heart attacks and life time cardiac complications resulting in almost paralyzed life. A regular use of pomegranate in any way ensures a healthy cardiac life, thinning your blood, dissolving the blood clots and obstruction inside the coronary arteries, maintains an optimal blood flow, supports a healthy blood pressure, prevents and reverses atherosclerosis. (Thickening of the internal lining of the blood vessels) from whatever I experienced and observed in last several years, I can say:
"A pomegranate a day keeps the cardiologist away." you can try and see the wonder.

Note : In India , dried pomegranate seeds are known as "ANAARDANA" and is available in most grocery stores. In North India , it is commonly used in place of tamarind for taste and also for aiding the digestion.
Pomegranate fruit, (डाळिंब) or (अनार) is also commonly available in market.

These are some of the home remedies, ‘Daadeemaake Nuskhe’ (दादीमाँके नुस्खे) as they are called in Hindi or ‘Aajeebaaeechaa Batawaa  (आजीबाईचा बटवा) in Marathi. They are time tested and found useful, probably not to the same extent as claimed. Since every human body is unique and different from others, no medicine in any system is effective exactly in the same manner and to the same degree. Keeping this fact in mind one can try these remedies for minor ailments. Normally there would be no harm in trying them for prevention of deceases, except in case of allergies.

Marvelous Home Medicines

Medicinal plants are part of our social life. Since ages, we have been using medicinal plants for curing various disorders. Home remedies are less expensive than other system of medicines. Generally, it is harmless, easy to access, eco-friendly and cheaper. Anyone can afford these medicines. Since ages, we have been using medicinal plants for curing various disorders.

In the present communication, it is aimed to list few home remedies for common disorders like cough, cold, fever, dandruff and pains etc. All the herbs mentioned here are mostly found in our kitchen garden. If you follow these remedies, you surely will be a doctor of your own.

TULSI

1. Tulsi extract mixed with pepper powder should be consumed to reduce cough.

2. Crush Tulsi leaves along with black pepper is chewed in case of toothache.

3. Dry Tulsi leaf powder can be used as tooth powder, it helps in preventing foul smell of mouth.

4. Tulsi leaf extract helps in curing skin infections.

5. Equal amount of Tulsi extract, Lemon juice and Onion extract should be applied before taking shower, it helps in curing all types of skin diseases.

6. Boil 5 to 10 Tulasi leaves and consume it when there is asthmatic attack.

7. Mixture of Tulsi juice, Ginger juice and honey helps in Asthma

8. To a spoon of Tulsi juice, add juice of Bitter Gourd. Take it daily in the night for 1 month for controlling asthma and bronchitis.

9. In pimples, blend crushed Tulasi, Mint(Pudina) and Lemon juice in equal proportion. It heals pimple.

10. Chewing leaves of Tulsi acts as a mouth freshener.

GINGER

1. Cut ginger into small pieces, to this, add Tamarind leaves and two cups of water and boil till it comes down to one cup. To this, add one-cup sugar and simmer it in low flame. Once it is cooled down, add little Lemon juice to it and consume once in every 3 hours to get rid of cough.

2. To Ginger extract, mix little honey and take it. It helps in cough and cold.

3. Crush dry Ginger and add equal amount of Ghee (clarified butter) and jaggery (unrefined sugar). Take the same in the case of severe cough and cold.

4. To Ginger juice, mix equal amount of Lemon fruit juice, add little rock salt and crystal salt to it. Keep this mixture in a closed bottle under the sun for a week. Consuming the filtrate of this mixture after meals helps in digestion.

5. Take equal amount of Ginger extract and sugar is good for digestion.

6. To little Ginger, add 2 teaspoon Coriander seeds and boil. To this add little jaggery. This mixture is given to minimize the burning sensation in chest and stomach.

7. One teaspoon of Ginger powder with little sugar helps in stomach pain.

8. Take a teaspoon of fresh Ginger juice and Fenugreek leaves extract and to it, add honey. This mixture acts as an excellent expectorant.

9. Ginger powder (half teaspoon) with water (1 teaspoon)can be applied over the forehead to minimize headache.

GARLIC

1. Dip one Garlic bud in honey and keep it for 40 days. The mixture helps in speech improvement and throat infections.

2. Garlic acts as a galactogogue therefore given to mother with non-lactation problems.

3. Crush Garlic and mix it with Coconut oil and roast it. Pouring two to three drops of this oil in ears, helps in earache

4. Garlic should be crushed in salt and applied over scorpion sting area. It is a good antidote.

5. Add a teaspoon of Garlic juice to a glassful of water, take it twice a day to cure asthma.

6. About 3 drops of Garlic oil is good in case of earache.

7. Chew raw Garlic everyday, it is perhaps the most effective remedy for blood related disorders. It also helps in minimizing bodyache.

8. Extract of fresh Garlic buds kill or slow downs the growth of more than a dozen common bacteria.

HONEY

1. To honey, add Ginger extract and consume in cough and cold.

2. Two teaspoon honey with lukewarm water in empty stomach helps in reducing weight.

4. Taking two teaspoons of honey after meals helps in increasing the body weight.

5. A number of recent studies have shown that externally applied honey can prevent a broad range of bacterial infections and promote healing in burn patients.

6. A teaspoon of honey before bed, aids water retention and calms fears in children.

7. A dessert spoon of honey in a mug of hot milk aids sleep and works wonders for kids

ONION

1. Mix Onion extract with honey and take it when it is too cold. This gives warmth to cold body.

2. Onion and jaggery should be taken to increase body weight.

3. Onion juice with honey is useful in cold, cough, bronchitis and influenza.

4. Onion contains iron, therefore, beneficial in treating anaemia.

5. About 30 gm Onion and 7 seeds of Black Pepper can finely be pounded and given to the Cholera patients.

6. Chop one raw Onion and cover with salt and leave it overnight. Apply the juice 3-4 times a day on warts or wounds.

7. A mixture of equal amount of Onion honey should be kept over for 3 to 4 hours. It acts wonderful in the case of cough.

8. About 50 gm of water soaked Onion and 10 gm sugar should be taken twice a day. This helps in curing bleeding piles.

9. One teaspoon of raw onion juice is good in bronchitis.

10. Raw onion is good to reduce the cholesterol.

FENUGREEK SEEDS (METHI SEEDS)

1. Diabetic patients should consume 25g to 50g fenugreek seeds everyday.

2. Fenugreek seed tea is equally valued to quinine. It reduces fever.

3. Paste made from Fenugreek seeds could be applied over the scalp. Leave it for an hour, then rinse and dry. This could cure dandruff.

4. Application of the extract helps in the growth of hair and prevents hair fall.

5. Fenugreek seed powder is used as a poultice to inflamed parts and is applied on the skin as a cosmetic.

6. Paste of Fenugreek leaf is applied over the face, it helps in preventing pimples and black heads.

7. Methi seeds are boiled in water. The water helps to cure rashes of skin.

TURMERIC

1. Add little Turmeric to hot milk. It reduces cold and cough.

2. Paste of Turmeric and Sandalwood helps in curing skin infection and pimples.

3. Applying Turmeric paste over the pimples helps in curing it.

4. Mix Turmeric powder with Mint leaves or Lemon leaves, using this as face pack every day helps in curing pimples.

5. For a fair complexion, apply a blend of raw milk, Cucumber juice and Olive oil with a pinch of Turmeric powder on your skin.

6. A pinch of Turmeric powder mixed with a teaspoon of Coriander juice, is an effective home remedy for pimples and blackheads.

7. A pinch of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of milk cream, mixed with half a teaspoon of vinegar, makes an excellent poultice. It helps in ripening the blood boils and in their healing without allowing them to become septic.

8. Use clean Turmeric to heal a small cut.

NEEM

1. Neem leaves are boiled in water and honey is added. Consuming this twice a day cures diabetes at preliminary stage.

2. Neem oil applied on scalp helps to get rid of lice and dandruff.

3. Neem water is good to cure skin infections.

4. Raw Neem leaves are said to be good to purify the blood.

5. In pimples, mix Neem powder, Red Sandalwood powder and curd in equal proportions. Apply the paste on the affected area.

6. Neem oil is good in itching and rashes of the skin.

8. Neem leaf paste should be applied on the wounds. It cures the wound very soon.

9. Young branch of Neem is used as tooth brush, it removes foul taste of mouth and removes bacteria.

10. Decoction of the leaves is useful in fever.



Your Liver and Sleep

I do not know the origin of this mail. Its language also appears to be Japlish or Chinlish or something like that.  Anyway, the sum total appears to be have regular food habits and do not eat junk food. It helps your liver.

The main causes of liver damage are:

1.      Sleeping too late and waking up too late
2.      Not urinating in the morning.
3.      Too much eating.
4.      Skipping breakfast.
5.      Consuming too much medication.
6.      Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7.      Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. Try to reduce the use of cooking oil when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8.      Consuming raw(?) (overly done) Foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

Evening at 9 - 11 PM:
It is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes).This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an un-relaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1 am:
It is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3 am:
The detoxification process in the gall is ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5 am:
It is the time of detoxification in the lungs. Therefore, there will some times be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am:
The time of detoxification in the colon, so you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9 am:
The absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time.
Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30 am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30 am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit.
Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10 am rather than no meal at all.
Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

COCONUT OIL-cure for alzheimer ?

Actually I was very happy to find an example of  'GOOD KLOSTROL' in the wonderful Coconut oil. The vedio claimes that this oil not only cures Alzheimer's desease, but also protects brain from some other dis orders.  Then I found on snoops that this claim is 'uncertain'. That means it does not fulfil 5 golden rules of varification. Anyway, one can give benefit of doubt to Coconut oil, if he enjoys it. All Keralites, Tamilians, Mangaloreans etc. should feel happy.

Why our ancestors used copper utensils ?

 However, I have reservations about whatever is written below. In my opinion, our ancestors used copper vessels for storing water, probably because of their availability and superiority over other materials before advent of stainless steel. Iron is unsuitable for storing drinking water because it rusts. (Though painted or galvanized steel tanks  are very commonly used to store water for other purposes). Earthen vessels are commonly used for storing drinking water in rural areas, but as they can break easily, metallic vessels are more reliable.
I recently took out a copper vessel from my attic, cleaned it thoroughly with Pitambari and wire brush and made it shiny, filled it with water and started using it. However, municipal tap water stored in it started giving peculiar odour and the vessel also showed some stain marks on the next day. That means copper may not be suitable for the air and water in our city. They are affected perhaps due to chlorination and pollution, and the vessel needs thorough cleaning everyday, if we want to drink water stored in it.  Maintenance of stainless steel vessels and glass bottles is relatively easier.  Plastic is also easier, but is now a days considered to be harmful!

Ayurveda recommends storing water in Copper Vessels. Ancient Egyptians used Copper Vessels to keep water fresh. Even today, management of Siva temple at Rameswaram uses large sized Copper vessels to store water brought from river Ganges to offer to lord Siva.Water, stored thus, stays fresh for years together.

According to scientists, copper vessel can be the answer to kill the `E-Coli' bacteria which causes food poisoning. British scientists are carrying out research on copper and concluded that copper ions kill these harmful bacteria, a capability not found in any other metals including gold. It is interesting to see that a research group from Southampton University found that Coli 157 bacteria can live happily in stainless steel vessels for months together, while copper vessel at room temperature can kill them in just four hours. At 20 deg centigrade, in the stainless steel vessel, those bacteria live for 34 days, while in brass vessel they live only for 4 days.

Thus if one uses copper vessels for storing water in factories, shops, hospitals, restaurants, we can get rid of the risk of these food poisoning bacteria. Though stainless steel is much used for its shine and cleanliness, the copper is more useful material for vessels.

Copper and Fertility:

The advantages of drinking copper water was pointed out by Andrew Saul, Contributing Editor for the Journal of Ortho molecular Medicine, while speaking on fertility, conception & family planning. In his own words -"If u want to conceive, try having the man take mega doses of vitamin C for a few weeks prior. At least 6,000 milligrams a day, and as much as 20,000 mg/day guarantees very high sperm production. Divide the dose throughout the day for maximum effect. And that effect is what, exactly? More sperm, stronger sperm, and better swimming sperm all occurred, at even lower daily C doses, in a University of Texas. Continued high doses of zinc can produce a copper deficiency & sometimes a copper deficiency anemia. This is very easy to compensate for. To begin with, most Americans have copper water pipes in their homes...Drink a glass or two of cold water first out of the tap every morning and you'll get copper....Secondly, eat more raisins and other copper-high  foods....... Third, take a multiple vitamin (as you should be doing anyway) with copper in it.

Finally, do what those sexpots in India have been doing for thousands of years. Buy a copper metal cup, fill it with cold water at bedtime, and drink it first thing the next morning!!!

It is also seen that copper water becomes "sharp" and gets readily absorbed by our body, reaches cells in about 45 minutes. Hence, it is generally recommended that after Ushapan (Drinking water in morning) , one should give a gap of 45 minutes before taking tea or coffee. Copper water is also recommended to people suffering from vitiligo, where it helps formation of melanin. After starting on copper water, many do not need cold water to satisfy the thirst. With yoga, pranayama and other breathing techniques, senses become so sharp that taste and quality of water can be sensed adequately. How to Avoid Cataracts !

 A cataract is a clouding that develops in the lens of the eye and blur our vision, causing nearsightedness (myopia) and decreasing our ability to detect the color blue.
Left untreated, they may even cause full blindness. Many people develop cataracts in later ages, but there are ways to refrain from developing it, especially at an earlier age. Adhere to these tips and you may prevent a cataract ever forming on your lens!

  Protect the eyes from the potential side effects of certain medications. Prolonged use of steroids, tranquilizers, and psoriasis medication may cause cataracts when taken in large doses over a long period of time.
 Those suffering from diabetes should keep their blood sugar under control. This is because diabetics tend to develop cataracts faster and at an earlier age than other adults.
 Protect your eyes from ultraviolet sun rays as these rays speed up the development of cataracts. Whenever out in the sun, wear sunglasses.
 Studies have shown that antioxidant vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin E and beta carotene slow the development of cataracts. Make sure your body doesn't lack any of these vitamins and if it does, take supplements.
  If there is uncontrolled diabetes, injury to the eye, or visual symptoms of decreased reading vision, consult an ophthalmologist to evaluate the problem to help restore sight and prevent blindness.

 Foods like butter, oils (except olive oil) and salt, and increased fat consumption in general has been associated with a higher risk of developing cataracts. So, avoid using or limit the intake of such foods.

 A diet rich in spinach, cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli), tomatoes, peppers, citrus fruits and melons help prevent cataracts.

 Avoid exposure to heavy metals, particularly cadmium, copper, lead, iron and nickel as they may also increase cataract formation as these metals have been found in cataractous lenses.

Urinating Frequently at Night (Nocturia)?

Geting up to the toilet in the middle of the night to urinate is quite common especially among the elderly. Many people consider this as part of normal aging. One episode of night urination is considered within normal limits. But if you are urinating more frequently than this, then you may be suffering from nocturia, and it could be a sign of a more serious problem or disease.

What Causes Frequent Urination?

First, let's talk about frequent urination that affects you both day and night.
There are many different causes of urinary frequency. More often this is caused by a problem in the bladder and urethra.
1. Overactive bladder : frequency is more than 8 times a day due to sudden urge to urinate even when the bladder is not full.
2. Enlarged prostate : caused by the prostate pressing on the urethra, which prevents the bladder from emptying completely.
However, if you urinate frequently during night time only, then it can be caused by other problems. One of these is problem in the heart.

Frequent Urination at Night is a Sign of Heart Disease!

Usually at night while you sleep, your brain produces anti diuretic hormones to limit the formation of urine by the kidneys so you can get a good night's sleep.
However, for some people, this is not the case, and the amount of urine still increases at night. Why exactly would this happen?
The answer has something to do with the pumping function of the heart. In essence, urine comes from the blood that has been filtered by the kidneys. If you have a heart problem, the blood pumping will be much weaker.
Now to explain it further, here's what actually happens: if the heart pumps blood at a weaker rate due to heart disease, then the blood will fail or will have difficulties to return to the heart. Swelling of the lower limbs (legs and ankles) will most likely occur as the blood pools in the extremities during the day.
At night, as the patient lies down, the blood or fluid that accumulated in the lower limbs will return to the heart. This time, the heart will need to work harder. This in turn forces the kidneys to produce more urine to decrease pressure in the heart. The result is nocturia or frequent urination at night!

Sleep Apnea Syndrome Can Trigger Nighttime Urination

Recently, a new study found that people suffering from sleep apnea syndrome (interruption of breathing during sleep) may experience nocturia.
Here's what happens during a sleep apnea episode:
1. Oxygen decreases due to obstruction of the upper airway.
2. Carbon dioxide increases.
3. Blood becomes very acidic.
During this time, the body is alarmed that something is wrong and forces the sleeper to wake up. The heart will begin to race and receive false signal that there is fluid overload and tell the body to urinate. This process repeats every time sleep apnea occurs.
Individuals suffering from sleep apnea rarely know that they are having difficulty breathing during sleep. So if you are urinating frequently at night, it can also be a sign that you have sleep apnea syndrome.
Treating the underlying cause of sleep apnea will help stop nocturia.

Four Things You Can Do to Cope With Nocturia

1. Avoid drinking too much liquid before bedtime, especially coffee, tea, and beer, as these beverages have diuretic effect.
2. Focus on lower leg exercise like walking or squatting 3-4 hours before you go to bed. This will help relieve swelling of the legs.
3. Lie or sit down and put your feet up 3-4 hours before bedtime so that some of the fluid in lower extremities will pass as urine before you sleep. Do this for at least 30 minutes. Stretch and bend your ankles at the same time for about 20 times while at this position.
4. Wear compression stockings during the day. This will prevent swelling of legs and feet. Just make sure it is the correct size and remove the stockings once you go to bed.

Important Things to Consider if You Have Nocturia

1. If you have heart or kidney problems, make sure to follow the advice of your doctor.
2. Elderly people should also watch their water intake and make sure that they remain hydrated. Remember that the body's thirst sensation diminishes with age.
3. There are many other possible causes of nocturia, so consult a urologist for an in-depth examination.
4. Consult a pulmonologist or an ENT specialist if you suspect that you have sleep apnea syndrome.

Comments by a reader: One of the reasons for frequent urination is a possible stricture ( narrowing down) in the urinary passage through the ureter. This could be due to some obstruction like growth or pressure from an enlarged Prostate or any other reason to be established. Urologist is the best person to diagnose this through multiple tests to map the bladder dynamics like pumping into the bladder to fill it at a measured rate and measuring the outflow/emptying of the bladder. Tests like MCU with an X-ray opaque dye help in observing the urinary passage condition. Further confirmation is possible through inserting an endoscope in the urinary passage and actually viewing it(Cystoscopy). Diagnosing a hyper active bladder function is a little complicated but must be attended to at the earliest in order to prevent more serious problems.
